This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to feel prepared and relaxed on the day, from what to wear, to what to bring, to how to get the most out of your time in front of the camera. Don’t stress about the perfect smile or trying to get your kids to “behave”, some of the most magical photos come from the in-between moments: the cuddles, the laughter, the messy love that makes your family yours. I can’t wait to create something beautiful together.

Tucked away just outside of the Yarra Valley, Whisper Gully Farms is a little slice of country magic. Your Christmas photos will be taken alongside the farm’s gentle Fallow Deer, creating a truly unique and enchanting experience. Nearby, you might also spot the resident Red Deer, baby Sambar deer, a fluffy Highland cow, cattle, sheep, and cheeky chickens, all adding to the charm of this special hobby farm. It’s the perfect setting to slow down, soak up the fresh country air, and capture memories that feel straight out of a Christmas storybook.
CHRISTMAS MINI SESSIONS INCLUDE:
- 10 magical minutes with the deer and your family.
- A full digital gallery of beautifully edited, high-resolution images to view.

A few friendly reminders for your Deer Farm Christmas Mini Session 🦌
✨ Please arrive 15 minutes early so you’re ready to go when your session begins, but we kindly ask that you stay back from the photo area until it’s your turn. We don’t want to give the deer a little fright while another family is being photographed. Please drive down the driveway, and either park along the driveway, or to the left in-front of the shed. Fences are live, so do not touch! I'll come find you when your session is about to start and give you a brief <3
🫶 Please stay calm and patient around the deer. They’re gentle, curious creatures, and the owners have spent countless hours helping them feel comfortable and ready for your visit.
🌿 While we’ll do everything we can to create some magic, please remember that the deer are real animals — they each have their own little personalities, and sometimes that means they may not cooperate perfectly (and that’s totally okay!).
A few helpful tips:
- Avoid bringing toys that may cause arguments between siblings.
- To help little toddlers and kids get ready, show them videos of deer and talk to them about getting photos with them.
Client Closet:
Neutral, earthy, and soft tones always photograph best — think beige, cream, tan, warm browns, soft sage, or muted pastels. These colors complement natural surroundings and help keep the focus on your family’s connection. The whole session will be photographed sitting down on our vintage couch.
- For mums and daughters, I especially love flowy dresses, soft knits, or layered textures.
- For partners and dads, a button-up linen shirt in a tone that complements (but doesn’t exactly match) your outfit works perfectly. Avoid bright colors, bold patterns, or graphic t-shirts, as these can distract from the overall look.
- For children, anything in those same neutral or earthy tones works wonderfully. Rompers, knits, or simple dresses with soft textures are great choices.
A few extra tips:
- Please remove Apple Watches, Fitbits, and sunglasses before the session (or leave them in the car). If you're an avid Apple Watch wearer, you may need to apply a little bit of fake tan to your wrists. Leave wallets and car keys behind or just outside the paddock. We'll be giving you some deer feed as you enter the paddock.
- If you're unsure what to wear, feel free to send me outfit options via social media — I’m more than happy to help you coordinate!

- After our session, I'll send through your whole gallery within 1 week, so they're ready for your 7 selection images. For full gallery upgrades, a new invoice will be emailed and gives your access to download your entire gallery. +$50.00
- Your gallery will be delivered in high resolution, and you’ll be able to download and share with family and friends.
