First things first... congratulations! You're engaged (ahhh!) and I’m so excited to be part of this super special season with you.

Your engagement session is all about celebrating your love, having a laugh, getting a little cuddly (or silly!), and capturing the real, unfiltered you two. No stiff posing or awkward vibes here, just good energy, genuine moments, and a whole lot of fun.


This guide will walk you through everything you need to know, what to wear, where to go, and how to get the most out of your shoot. Think of it as your session cheat sheet to feeling relaxed and looking like absolute magic in front of the camera. I can’t wait to create something amazing with you both!

When to book your engagement session:

There’s no set rule for when you have to book your engagement session—it's all about what works best for you! Some couples like to shoot early so they can use the photos for save-the-dates or wedding websites, while others prefer to wait until things feel a bit more settled in the planning process. Whether it’s months in advance or closer to the big day, we’ll find a time that suits your schedule and the kind of vibe you’re after.

Engagement sessions are all about celebrating the two of you and this exciting season of life together. 


When is the best time for your session?

For the most flattering, magical lighting, I recommend scheduling your session during golden hour – at sunrise or sunset. These times offer soft, dreamy light and a beautiful backdrop - and we can even schedule it in to capture blue hour - when the sky turns pink after the sun disappears or appears.


What to bring to your session: 

While you really don’t need to bring anything but your beautiful selves, a few little extras can add a personal touch and help tell your story:

  • Props that feel like you – Think picnic blanket, guitar, books, motorbike helmets—whatever fits your vibe as a couple.
  • Champagne + glasses – For a cute pop-the-bubbly moment (and an excuse to celebrate!).
  • Accessories – Hats, jackets, sunglasses, flowers, or anything that adds personality to your photos.
  • Sentimental items – Love letters, gifts you’ve exchanged, or even something from your first date.
  • Engagement ring - Shine her up!

Basically, if it reflects who you are together or makes the session feel more you, bring it! If you’re unsure, feel free to shoot me a message and we’ll plan it together.


What to wear:

When it comes to outfits, comfort and confidence are key. Choose pieces that feel like you, photograph beautifully, and allow you to move freely—we’ll be running, spinning, cuddling, and chasing the golden light!

Here are a few tips to help you feel and look your best:

  • Flowy dresses are always a fave—they add beautiful movement and suit every season. Think soft tones, earthy colours, or subtle patterns.
  • Knitwear, linen, and textured fabrics photograph so beautifully and add a natural, cosy touch.
  • Coordinate, don’t match—opt for complementary colours and tones rather than identical outfits.
  • Avoid bold logos, neon colours, and loud prints—these can distract from the connection we’re capturing.
  • Please skip the heels! We’ll likely be walking over grass, sand, or uneven ground, and I want you to feel totally at ease.

All engagement sessions take place in the stunning surrounds of Buxton or Alexandra, two beautiful spots that offer a perfect backdrop for your love story.

By the River, Buxton

A hidden gem bursting with lush green trees and natural charm. This serene spot feels like your own little secret, with plenty of cozy corners and dappled light perfect for capturing those intimate, candid moments.


The Breakaways, Alexandra

Offering breathtaking panoramic views, It's the perfect place to add a dramatic and awe-inspiring backdrop to your photos. The sweeping landscapes make for stunning golden hour shots that you’ll treasure forever.



Please note: sessions outside of Buxton and Alexandra will incur an additional travel fee.

The Breakaways in Alexandra is a breathtaking location that offers panoramic views over the surrounding landscape. The lookout overlooks hills and valleys, creating a stunning backdrop that works beautifully for you.


This spot tends to be quieter than more popular tourist spots, offering a more private and relaxed atmosphere for your session. Available all year round with golden grass during the Summer, and green grass during the Winter.


Good to know:

Best photographed during sunset. There is parking available nearby with a short walk to our spot.

This location is surrounded by a mixture of lush greenery, dry grass and a beautiful river. It’s often a quiet, private area that feels very intimate and peaceful, perfect for capturing genuine, relaxed moments. Cows often graze the paddock or are nearby, giving that very 'country' lifestyle.


This mix will allow for a great variety of photos with different moods and styles.


Good to know:

Parking is easy and close by, detailed directions will be provided upon booking to preserve the serenity of the space.

☁️ What If the Weather Turns?

I keep a close eye on the forecast in the days leading up to your session. If we’re expecting rain and you’re booked for the afternoon, but the morning looks clearer, we may shift your session earlier — or postpone it if necessary. I’m more than happy to shoot in light rain, as it can add a dreamy, moody vibe to your photos. However, I won’t shoot in stormy conditions or strong winds for safety and quality reasons.


📸 Image Delivery & What’s Included

There are no hidden fees or upsells — you’ll receive your full gallery of beautifully edited images, with a minimum of 40 high-resolution photos included.

The only additional fee may apply if I need to travel beyond my standard locations. If that’s the case, I’ll always let you know upfront.

  • After our session, I’ll send you 10 sneak peeks within a couple days so you can start reliving the magic and have something to post on socials.
  • Your final gallery will be delivered in high resolution, and you’ll be able to download and share with family and friends within 2-4 weeks.
