Your pregnancy is such a special milestone, and I can’t wait to create timeless images that celebrate the love, anticipation, and joy you’re experiencing right now. To help you feel fully prepared and confident, I’ve put together this Session Preparation Guide. Inside, you’ll find everything you need to know – from what to expect during your session, how to prepare, styling and outfit tips, and suggestions for how to get the most out of our time together. Whether this is your first maternity session or your third, I want it to feel relaxed, meaningful, and above all, memorable. This is your moment – let’s make it unforgettable.

When to book your maternity session:
To secure your ideal session date, I recommend booking your maternity session towards the end of your first trimester or early in your second trimester. Your actual session will typically be scheduled for when you are between 28 and 35 weeks pregnant. This timing ensures your beautiful bump is showing, while still allowing flexibility in case we need to reschedule due to weather, illness, or other unexpected changes. (you can also book in your newborn session at the same time)
Who is involved:
Your maternity session is a celebration of your growing family – and that includes everyone! Partners, children, and even pets are more than welcome to be part of the experience. We’ll work together to capture authentic, connected moments that reflect your family’s unique dynamic.
When is the best time for your session?
For the most flattering, magical lighting, I recommend scheduling your session during golden hour – at sunrise or sunset. These times offer soft, dreamy light and a beautiful backdrop - and we can even schedule it in to capture blue hour - when the sky turns pink after the sun disappears or appears. However, I understand that family life doesn’t always align with golden hour. If sunrise or sunset isn’t suitable, we can schedule a session between 10:00am and 4:00pm instead. I’m happy to work around toddler nap times, family routines, daylight savings, or seasonal changes – just let me know what suits your lifestyle best.
What to bring to your session:
Personal touches make your session even more meaningful. Here are a few ideas to consider bringing:
- Ultrasound/pregnancy scans
- 1–2 newborn outfits
- Baby shoes, a soft toy, or a special rattle
- Sentimental items like heirlooms or gifts
- A beautiful picnic blanket or throw
- Florals or items that reflect your personality or style
- Gender reveal items, smoke, cake etc
These small additions help tell your story and can be beautifully incorporated into your photos.

I offer a curated collection of maternity wardrobe pieces available for your session, including sheer and sparkly fabrics, and flowing gowns that pair beautifully with lingerie or can be worn nude for elegant, artistic images. Fake Tan Tip: If you choose to fake tan, consider applying an extra coat on your belly and wrists (especially if you're usually an Apple Watch wearer – tan lines love to linger!).
Partners:
Keep it simple and stylish. A button-up cream / brown / pastel linen shirt in a complementary tone (e.g., if you're in white, they could wear beige, cream, or tan) works beautifully. Pair it with neat dress pants or classic jeans. Please avoid graphic t-shirts, loud colors, or bold patterns as these can distract from the natural, timeless feel we’re aiming for.
Children:
Neutral tones like beige, soft whites, earthy hues, and gentle textures photograph beautifully. Simple, comfortable outfits allow your child’s personality to shine.

MT LOFTY, WONGA PARK
Welcome to one of our most loved and sought-after session spots — Mt Lofty in Wonga Park. If you're drawn to open landscapes, golden grass, and uninterrupted skies, this location is for you.
Breathtaking 360 degree views, golden hour magic, open fields, seasonal versatility.
Good to know:
There’s a short but steep walk required to reach the top, so comfortable footwear is essential. We recommend arriving in casual shoes and changing into session shoes or going barefoot at the summit.
Please note there are no toilets or change rooms on site. We recommend coming dressed or bringing easy-to-change layers. No pets allowed
RJ HAMER ARBORETUM,OLINDA
A forest-meets-field dreamscape in the Dandenong Ranges - RJ Hamer offers wide open grassy hills, dramatic tree lines, and magical woodland sections — perfect for those craving a mix of nature, texture, and depth. From golden sunsets to misty forest light, it delivers stunning backdrops year-round.

Easy parking on Chalet Rd, Toilets on-site, pets allowed
Half moon bay, black rock
A breathtaking coastal gem where rugged cliffs meet the sea, Half Moon Bay offers the most magical light as the sun dips behind the horizon. The soft, golden glow filters through the rocky formations, creating an ethereal atmosphere perfect for romantic, barefoot maternity sessions.
A short, easy walk from the car park leads you down to a secluded cove of honey-toned cliffs and calm waters. The textures of the sandstone, paired with the soft ocean breeze, give every image a sense of calm, connection, and wild beauty.
Good to know:
Easy, ticketed parking or free street parking nearby, short walk to the beach, Public toilets & cafes nearby

THE PAPS, MAINDAMPLE
If you're dreaming of expansive mountain top views with rugged, natural beauty — The Paps in Maindample is the perfect backdrop. Ideal for anyone wanting a sweeping landscape behind them.
360° Mountain Views for sunrise & sunset & beautiful field gully at the bottom.
Once you’re at the top, you're surrounded by uninterrupted panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It’s raw, peaceful, and breathtaking — perfect for statement shots that feel intimate yet powerful.
Good to know:
AWD / 4WD access is required to reach the summit. If you don’t have one — no stress! I’m more than happy to drive you up so we can reach the very best photo spots, no toilets, children must be supervised, no pets allowed. Tends to be a little chilly at the top.
There's also open paddocks at the bottom that are usually grazed by sheep that could be used for imagery.
Piries river, mansfield
Nestled in the heart of the High Country, this patch of nature along the Piries River offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for your session. In the warmer months, you’ll find soft, golden long grass that dances in the breeze — perfect for barefoot wandering and warm, romantic tones. As the cooler season rolls in, the landscape transforms into lush green rolling hills, giving a fresh, vibrant backdrop under dramatic skies.
Access to the river for in-water imagery and wide open space all around. The views stretch far, the light is gentle, and there’s always a bit of magic in the stillness out here.
Good to know:
Please note there are no toilets or change rooms on site. Pets allowed

BY THE RIVER, BUXTON
A wonderful mix of open fields that can look dry and golden or lush and green, depending on the weather—giving us a range of beautiful natural backgrounds to work with. You’ll also find large, majestic trees scattered around, perfect for creating soft shade and adding texture to your photos. Plus, there’s easy access to a shallow, clear river, which adds a peaceful, refreshing element to the setting—great for relaxed, natural shots.
This location gives us the flexibility to capture everything from wide-open, airy landscapes to intimate moments by the water or under the trees.
Good to know:
Parking is easy with a short walk, bring some boots along for the cooler weather, detailed directions will be provided upon booking to preserve the serenity of the space. No pets allowed
IN THE FERNS, NARBETHONG
This location is surrounded by lush greenery, with short floor ferns creating a soft, natural carpet and tall tree ferns towering above, adding a magical, forest-like atmosphere. It’s a quiet, private area that feels very intimate and peaceful—perfect for capturing genuine, relaxed moments.
At the back of the ferns, the forest opens up into a wide, open field, giving us the flexibility to shoot in both shaded, cozy surroundings and bright, open spaces with plenty of natural light. This mix will allow for a great variety of photos with different moods and styles.

Parking is easy and close by, detailed directions will be provided upon booking to preserve the serenity of the space. No pets allowed
LAKE EILDON, EILDON / Bonnie doon
Lake Eildon is a stunning and a very sentimental location in Victoria. Known for its sparkling water, rocky shores, and beautiful natural surroundings, it offers unique backdrops for a variety of photo sessions. Whether it’s the warm glow of summer or the serene calm of cooler months, Lake Eildon’s changing seasons offer diverse and breathtaking scenery. The open water and surrounding landscape provide ample natural light, perfect for golden hour.
Good to know:
Parking close by, toilets nearby and bring sandals for the rocky areas. If beautiful in water shots appeal to you, please bring spare briefs and towels. Detailed location directions and meeting points will be provided upon booking. Ideal to book these sessions midweek as it can be a little busy over weekends. Pets allowed.
WHIMSICAL FLOWER FIELD, HEALESVILLE
Hidden in the heart of Healesville, this small flower field feels like something out of a whimsical fairytale. Tucked among tall grasses and surrounded by quiet bushland, it’s a peaceful, almost secret place that blooms briefly but beautifully.
Whimsical & Ethereal, Fairy Forest Vibes
The delicate white onion flowers form a dreamy, textured field that looks straight out of a fantasy. It's soft, romantic, and perfect for anyone wanting a magical backdrop.
Good to know:
Available only in September and October, while the onion flowers are in full bloom. It's a short and special window — sessions book quickly during this time!
The field can be muddy, especially after rain. Waterproof boots are essential for your comfort.
This hidden gem is located in Healesville. Detailed directions will be provided upon booking to preserve the serenity of the space. No pets allowed.
by the goulburn river, ALEXANDRA
By the Goulburn River in Alexandra is a breathtaking location that offers sweeping panoramic views over the surrounding landscape. The view overlooks hills and valleys and can even dip our toes in the river.
This spot is quiet and is often used by fishermen catching trout. It's available all year round with golden grass during the Summer, and green grass during the Winter.
Good to know:
Best photographed over sunset. There is parking available, with a little jump over an easy fence. Cows are often in the paddock, so please let fur babies at home.

🌊 In-Water Sessions
Many of my maternity sessions take place by rivers or lakes — If we plan to dip into the water, please bring:
A spare change of clothes
A towel
A bag for wet items
Sturdy footwear like slides or crocs (some locations have pebbled riverbeds)
🤍 Nude & Semi-Nude Sessions
There’s something deeply powerful about capturing the raw, natural beauty of motherhood. Including semi-nude or nude elements in your maternity session can be an incredibly moving way to honour your body, your strength, and your journey into motherhood. That said, nude doesn’t have to mean bare. It could be as simple as a soft white robe draped over your shoulders or a sheer fabric in the golden light. The goal is always to create images that feel elegant, empowering, and true to you.
Your comfort is always my top priority — I’ll guide you gently and respectfully through the process.
☁️ What If the Weather Turns?
I keep a close eye on the forecast in the days leading up to your session. If we’re expecting rain and you’re booked for the afternoon, but the morning looks clearer, we may shift your session earlier — or postpone it if necessary. I’m more than happy to shoot in light rain, as it can add a dreamy, moody vibe to your photos. However, I won’t shoot in stormy conditions or strong winds for safety and quality reasons.
📸 Image Delivery & What’s Included
There are no hidden fees or upsells — you’ll receive your full gallery of beautifully edited images, with a minimum of 70 high-resolution photos included.
The only additional fee may apply if I need to travel beyond my standard locations (such as the Yarra Valley, Marysville, Alexandra, Mansfield, and surrounds). If that’s the case, I’ll always let you know upfront.
